See You In September - Labor Day Kicks off Fall Events

A visit to the Long Beach Island Region can make summer last a little while longer

Labor Day is a time to celebrate the hard work and achievements of workers across the country. In the Long Beach Island Region, the Southern Ocean Chamber has put together a fantastic lineup of events to help everyone enjoy their long weekend.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the Eat, Drink & Buy LBI Savings Pass. This pass gives you access to digital discounts in the palm of your hand. With easy-to-redeem coupons available anytime you need them, you can enjoy savings all year long. On Friday, September 1st there are several events to choose from. The Viking Village Dock Tour takes place from 10am-noon in Barnegat Light. The Historic Walking Tour of Beach Haven starts at 10am and runs until 11:30am at Beach Haven Historical Museum. Grab your Land & Sea Guide and utilize the Passport to LBI over the 3 day weekend. Don’t forget to grab Jersey Fresh produce and baked goods at the Lacey Township Farmers Market, open from 11am-5pm.

Fantasy Island Amusement Park will be offering unlimited rides Friday, 9/1 from 3pm - 7pm and Monday, 9/4 from 12pm - 8pm.

Disaster! The Musical is happening at Surflight until September 2nd. This new musical straight from Broadway features some of the most unforgettable songs of the '70s. “Knock on Wood,” “Hooked on a Feeling,” “Sky High,” “I Am Woman” and “Hot Stuff” are just a few of the scintillating hits in this hilarious musical comedy. It’s 1979 and New York’s hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque.

Cinderella is playing at Surflight Children’s Theater from August 30th-September 3rd. The show begins at 6pm and all tickets are $13.00.

Barnegat Township Volunteer Fire Company is hosting their 11th Annual  Stop, Drop and Run on Saturday, September 2. Signups accepted up through race day here

QC Market & Kitchen will be having their Labor Day / Clambake/Watch Fireworks on Saturday Sept. 2nd at 7pm - Build Your Own Clambake!! Enjoy the sunset bayside and the best seats on the island for the fireworks show by Fantasy Island. Purchase tickets for the clambake here.

Pinelands Brewing Company will be hosting a bluegrass extravaganza on Saturday, September 2 from 2pm - 6pm. Details here

On Saturday September 2  enjoy the End of Summer Labor Day Weekend Show at Albert Music Hall in Waretown. 6 Bands, doors open 5:30 with show from 6-9pm. Famous snack bar will be open for food and treats as well as merchandise supporting the Pinelands Cultural Society. Tickets $6.

Fantasy Island Amusement Park Fireworks will begin 9pm in Beach Haven.

Sunday, September 3, the LBI Historical Flea Market & Craft Festival will be taking place at Veterans Park, Beach Haven running from 9am - 4pm.

On Sunday September 3rd head to Viking Village Art & Craft Show from 10:00AM-4:30PM at 19th & Bayview where local artists will be showing and selling their work.

The LBI Ferry is making its last run  September 2-4. Departing from Tuckerton Seaport at 8am, 11am, 2:30pm and 5:30pm (this will be the last return trip to Beach Haven for the day). Departing from Beach Haven at 9:30am, 12:30pm, 4pm and 7pm. Get tickets in advance at LBI Ferry website, and look for Chowderfest Express Ferry Service for a special September 30 run. 

There’s something for everyone this Labor Day Weekend in the Long Beach Island Region. Extend your summer and enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer.
