The Southern Ocean Chamber is ready to round out their 109th year, and hope you join them supporting local business this fall.

Fall fascination abounds with 18 miles of sugar sand beaches, historic bay front views and the legendary Pineland forests. From a vibrant music scene to coastal cuisine, there are many new ways to reimagine your fall road trip, mid-week getaway or weekend escapes.   The Southern Ocean Chamber has been welcoming guests to the region for 109 years and always offers top picks and real time updates through their digital platforms from their Explore LBI Monthly newsletter, social posts, newsroom, and websites. Long Beach Island Region boosts unique places to stay, central shore location to host a special event, and home to the iconic Barnegat Lighthouse State Park.

Whether you are new to the area or ready to reconnect with a familiar, save the date for LBI Chowderfest Free Vendor Village and Ticketed Chowder Cook Off happening September 30. A Fresh take on the 34-year tradition of welcoming fall as new partnership with community nonprofit organizations. Starting off with a free fest, get ready for an outstanding day by the bay as the Southern Ocean Chamber Association presents top bands such as The La Stella Brothers, Chevy Lopez and the Rave Ons, local vendors, festival merchandise, delicious food from legendary Chicken or the Egg, La Bamba, Country Kettle Chowda, Crust & Crumb, as well as the new Queen City Market, SimpleFried and Chick-Fill-a, menu of  drink on tap options for purchase including Michelob Ultra, Strongbow, Victory Oktoberfest, Landshark and Jetty. There will also be Hoop Tea, Nutrl Cranberry and Pineapple seltzers.  The family-friendly event takes place on Saturday, September 30, from 10 am to 6 pm at Taylor Avenue Waterfront in Beach Haven. No tickets are needed for entry. Leashed pets are welcome. Hands on activities with Ocean County Parks 250th Anniversary Revolutionary Trailer, Pup Tent Pet Hydration Station, Bywatyr Shop’s base camp area will feature Shore-style seating, picnic tables and conversation pits and so much more. Tasting is available 2023 Cook-off Classic will be presented adjacent to the vendor village featuring eight local restaurants vying for your vote for red and white chowder champion. The long-standing charity will host the tasting, the Hunger Foundation of Southern Ocean with proceeds from ticket sales benefitting food pantries that exclusively service the LBI region. Cook-off hours are scheduled 11 am to 3:30 pm.  Event details as well as tickets for sampling will be available for advance online purchase by visiting the Hunger Foundation link on www.chowderfest.com Consider one of the many beautifully appointed rental homes through the lodging link presented by VRLBI to fully enjoy the weekend. Take a little more back to school by picking up the printed copy or digital book of the Land & Sea Passport featuring local museums, activities, art, and science stops for the whole family to better understand the barrier island. Check off local marine life, birds, flowers, and shellfish, or follow the Giant Clam trail from Reclam the Bay. One final thought for fall.
